We went on out into the colorful subway system once again, after taking our time in Karin´s apartment. We had made plans to meet up with Josh´s friend who we had had dinner with the night before. He calls her Jimmie, but I don´t remember her real name now. We had made plans at dinner to meet her in Liberdade for lunch. This is the Japanese part of town in Sao Paulo. Brazil has the largest Japanese population outside of Japan, and so we wanted a taste of it. We didn´t get going in time for lunch but then we made plans to meet up at 3 in the front of the metro station. We were nearly an hour late, and Jimmie was no where to be found.
We made our way to find a resturant. We took some smaller street and came across a nice little joint with a single table out in front for us. We got a beer each, a bowl of assorted sea fruits and a little roll of rice wrapped in sea weed. The little ol´lady handed me a small, little tube of wasabi. As always, I smeared it into a bowl and added a portion of soy sauce. HOLY HOT! I made sounds like I had Never made before. It got down right into my soul and tore up the furniture. But that didn´t stop me... I couldn´t turn down the challenge, so I continued to contort my face as much as my bone structure would allow. I went back and forth from my bowl of soy to Josh´s so I could enjoy the taste of my meal. Eventually, I needed to scoop a large portion of the wasabi culture out of my life and into the trash can. It was just too much to look at. So that was that, the hottest wasabi in my life.
We got on up and headed to the bus station where Josh had stashed his other bag. He had put it there before he left to meet up with us on the beach. We walked around the station trying to decide where we were going to go the next day. There were no night buses to Salvador, so we instead decided to take a night bus to Rio De Janiero instead. Then we got Josh´s bag out of jail and booked it to the appropriate station where Karin and Leslie would meet us for dinner. We got to the Morumbi station and they picked us up soon after.
The resturant was close by. It was a sushi joint and we got all you can eat! It was a pretty sweet deal, as we ended up paying approximately $14 for the sushi. There wasn´t really anything that was particularly Brazilian. There was a Maki that they brought our that was on fire. It had chunks of pineapple inside the roll. That was good! It was all good. There were some mushrooms that were probably the best I have ever had. This was a good áll you can eat sushi´experience. Usually I eat so much that I get to feeling sick. I guess I am growing up?
(The wasabi here at this second place was nothing to write home about.)
